These cozy, Romantic rooms occupy a lovely Victorian building in the canal-laced district known as "Little Venice," in the Maida Vale neighborhood north of Paddington Station.

It's the perfect place to stay if you want to feel like you're in a real London neighbourhood—one with scenic canal boats, no less—well away from the toruists yet still just a few Tube stops away from the action and the sights.

The Colonnade started life as a pair of 1865 private homes converted in 1880 into a girls' boarding school, and later a birthing hospital (Alan Turing, father of the computer, was born here in 1912). It became a hotel in 1935 (housing the Sigmund Freud family while their Hampstead house was being renovated).
