Bath offers free guided walks

The city of Bath offers free guided Mayor's Walks daily

The best introduction to town is to take a free, two-hour Mayor of Bath Honorary Guides walk.

They fill you in on Bath history and characters—Beau Nash, Jane Austen, the John Woods—and take you around to such highlights as The Circus, Royal Cescent, and Pulteney Bridge (you end up walking about two miles all told).

Tours run daily at 10:30am, and Friday to Sunday again at 2:30pm. From May through September, there is an additional 7pm walk on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

There is no need to sign up. Just meet the guide by the "Free tours!" sign on the Abbey Church Yard just outside the Pump Room.
