The ten flats in this period building where William Somerset Maugham once lived in the heart of tony Mayfair are, admittedly, a bit dowdy—like visiting your British Great Aunt Gertrude's place.
However, the apartments tend to be huge (especially by London standards), and come with real, full kitchens complete with dishwashers and washing machines (nice bonus).
These are self-catering flats, so there's no reception or other hotel-like services (you arrange your arrival time with the manager)—though there is a daily cleaning service on weekdays.
